Melasma/Pigmentation
Description
Imbalances of melanin in the skin can lead to inconsistent pigment changes, resulting in patchy skin colour changes as well as sun spots. Skin gets its color from a substance called melanin, which is made by skin cells. When those skin cells are damaged or unhealthy, they can produce too much melanin. The melanin can clump, causing that area to appear darker.
The Fotona treatment uses 2 methods to break up pigmentation into particles that can be absorbed by the body.
1. Melasma
A unique, multi-wavelength melasma laser treatment
For melasma laser treatment, the StarWalker® range is especially effective due to the selectivity of Q-switched light, enabling it to break apart pigments only and not cells. This means that pigment destruction can take place without ablating the skin.
2. Laser skin pigmentation & Meline ID Combo Treatment
Mode of Action
The combination of Meline ingredients creates potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, which helps with depigmentation.
3. Pigmentation and melasma is a complex condition that has long been difficult to treat, with improvements in most cases sustainable only for short periods of time. The patented MaQX Clear® procedure with the StarWalker® MaQX system is a multifactorial approach that not only treats hyperpigmentation symptoms, but is also believed to have beneficial effects on the vascular component of melasma.
HOW IT WORKS:
A step by step approach to treating melasma:
Step 1: uses Q-switched Nd:YAG delivering a sub-cellular photo-acoustic effect oriented to the destruction of melanosomes and fragmentation of dermal melanin.
Step 2: uses a fractional Q-switched laser to stimulate the exchange of keratinocytes (cells which play multiple roles essential for skin repair) and provide non-thermal rejuvenation of the tissue.
Laser skin pigmentation & Meline ID Combo Treatment
STEP 1: Full Beam: We go over the face with a full beam laser, this handpiece breaks down pigmentation in the second layer of the skin into smaller particles and then it gets flushed out through your lymphatic system.
STEP 2: Fractional: We go over the face with the fractional laser, with every shot it makes 81 holes in your skin up to the second layer of your skin. The heat together with the holes of the treatment stimulates the fibroblast that generates new collagen structures.
Step 3: Deliver the content of one ampoule MELINE®️ 01 ID in the hyperpigmented areas at 2 – 3 millimetres depth. (Step 3 is optional, depends on client’s preference).
How does MaQX Clear® work?
The 1st step applies Q-s Nd:YAG pulses with MaQX1, which delivers a subcellular photoacoustic effect oriented to the destruction of melanosomes and the fragmentation of dermal melanin.
The 2nd step uses low-fluence, short FRAC3® pulses, which research suggests may be beneficial for treating the microvascular components that cause erythema.
The 3rd step requires the use of the patented FracTAT® technology for fractional non-ablative and ablative treatments with the purpose to stimulate the exchange of keratinocytes and provide non-thermal rejuvenation of the tissue.
The 4thstep consists of the application of the Nd:YAG VERSA mode if vascular lesions are visible. This penetrates to a depth of 5-6 mm into the skin, allowing for highly effective removal.
